The Root Chakra,
also called the Muladhara Chakra, is located at the base of the spine. It is considered the 1st chakra. This chakra is very important to our well-being.
Energetically, this chakra grounds us. It absorbs energy from the earth and changes it into energy our body can use. It also moves the energy up the spine to the rest of our body.
Physically and emotionally, the Root Chakra governs our basic needs for food, shelter, and belonging. At its simplest, it's about survival. When balanced, you feel safe and secure. You take care of yourself, your family, your friends, and your community. You value all life. When out of balance, you may feel insecure or disconnected from the world. You may feel anxious or frightened without knowing why. You may have work or financial difficulties or feel stuck. You could be greedy or intolerant of others. But, there are ways to get your Root Chakra back into a healthy balance.
You can use color to help balance your chakras. Use red to balance the root chakra. Wear red. Eat red foods or root foods. Red or black crystals, such as garnet, carnelian, obsidian, or onyx, to name a few, can help. Nurture loving relationships with family and friends. Go outside and be in nature. Visualize roots going from the base of your spine, or feet deep into the earth and bring beautiful earth energy up the roots into your body. You can use aroma therapy, some oils or scents that help to balance this chakra are Patchouli, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Geranium, Rosemary, Vetiver, and Black Pepper. These are just a few ways to help to balance your Root Chakra. I'll tell you about other ways in another post. For now, if you feel your Root Chakra needs some work, pick one or two of these things, and start getting back in balance.
